  • I know it’s going to be unpopular here, but I am generally against trans girls in girls sports. It’s a situation ripe for abuse.

However, nobody is abusing it right now. Going after a girl who has maintained her status since the second grade is clearly just malicious and vindictive. There is nothing to be gained from misgendering her other than cruelty for political points. Reprimanding her mother is ridiculous and cruel.

It’s also nearly impossible to allow anyone to join a school team as long as you don’t win.

If the games stayed local, I’d be okay with her playing on the team. Maybe she could play JV, but never make Varsity. (I don’t really know how high school sports work.)

I generally agree that she shouldn’t be taking opportunities set aside for girls on the state or competitive levels. If Michael Phelps clear advantages could be the result of specific medical intervention, I’d say the same there.

It’s reasonable to keep state level competitions set aside for girls. The hate and attacks that come with the people who often enforce that shit is not.

Because Mastodon needs a reliable instance with a catchy domain name. Maybe even the slightest bit of advertising.

Someone reputable could make a real Twitter competitor for about $2m a year these days.

I’d say Mozilla, but they just took all their social media funding away and threw it at AI. Genius.

  • It’s hard for me to explain to people the unique tier that Olive Garden (and separately Pizza Hut) existed in.

There were many nicer Italian places than Olive Garden. It wasn’t pretentious at all, but it was nice and ubiquitous. Maybe a little better than PF Changs today? (Not that I’m very familiar with PF Changs). No one would laugh at you for taking a date there.

Pizza Hut was more casual by far, largely because you’d have kids playing arcade games and whatnot. Pizza Hut was more family oriented, but still more classy than most things we have today.

Maybe Texas Roadhouse is closer to accurate.
