Okay Bot.
Okay Bot.
I have a different theory. Google started scrapping Reddit since its gone public, so I think this is a strategy to get people to use [search query] + reddit in order to find answers, so that Google can scrape that data to train their AI
No, it’s Google changing their algorithm to feed you AI slop.
The first page and a half of Google results now is just AI-generated comparison websites. That’s by design.
I love how on Lemmy Windows is not immediately assumed to be the default OS, lol.
Are we all Linux users?
False leftist government ready to bend the knee to the fascist state. Who would have thought?
Yep, lol. Same mindset here. Although I doubt YouTube will ever do a hard cut on piracy. That would lead to a major decline in viewership and wouldn’t look good to shareholders.
It means I trust China more than the US.
China hasn’t revealed itself to be Cthulhu, unlike the US or Russia. So for me yes, it’s China at every turn unless a local option exists.
Its not just about banking apps, I just used that example as an escape goat.
Basically, I tried GrapheneOS briefly without Google play services, and there were some things I couldn’t get to work (I can’t recall now what since it was so long ago) but it was bothersome enough that I just installed it shortly after.
I still rely on services like Google play for some Apps (like Tasker), and i haven’t gotten rid of Google Maps entirely although I can do 90% of what I need with other apps. Also, don’t most apps need Gplay Services to feed you notifications? Not having notifications on my phone is a deal breaker for me.
Basically, for my threat model I just need to give as little data about myself to big tech, but not at the expense of too much convenience. I just can’t imagine using a phone without Google Play services.
So, again, not fit for use yet. Sadly. GrapheneOS works pretty well for now.
Let’s see what happens with the latest developments where Google took some code closed-source.
How does Sailfish get around most banking apps requiring Google play services, for example?
Now that you mention it, the reviews I’ve seen from people complaining these phones have major issues were from people from the US.
In that case I don’t know.
That’s cool. Unfortunately Linux phones, including Sailfish, aren’t really fit for daily use yet, imo.
Also, the choice to use Sony phones confuses me. I cannot think of a worse design choice for a phone.
They aren’t particularly secure, or particularly well built, I just don’t see a reason to base the OS on them.
I don’t understand. On one side Denmark is abandoning Microsoft in search of “Digital Sovereignty”.
On the other, they sell Dantaxi to Uber so they hold the taxi monopoly in Denmark, and now overwhelmingly vote to let US troops march into Denmark freely.
Can somebody explain what the Danish Government is doing?
Based. But also, they just sold Dantaxi to Uber so… Not that based?
Nah, i just know a bot when I see one.
