  • Except there are raw ground meat dishes. Beef tartare is raw ground beef and the Mettbrötchen is raw ground pork. So it certainly can be consumed safely.

The USDA guidelines for food safety are extremely conservative when it comes to spoiling. On one hand it makes sense because we don’t want businesses to gamble with their customers health for higher profits. But it also means people are quick to dismiss them because so many of the guidelines are broken daily without incident.

You fail to understand the roots of that hatred of landlords. The people aren’t really upsets at the individual landlord but the system that allows private landlords to exist. They want to change that system.

Op is being fucked because of someone else with no fault of their own. If private landlords wouldn’t exist, OP wouldn’t be fucked. And OPs landlord wouldn’t have to fuck someone over because they are in a bad situation.

So this has little to do with entitlement and with not wanting to be fucked over by someone else for no fault by your own.

  • I have to admit I underestimated the damage a bit. I imagined it to be around 40 in most scenarios.

But I think streamlining the range wouldn’t hurt. Instead of making it optional by expending exhaustion give it a longer base range and cause a fixed amount of exhaustion. Or perhaps make the user fall in a magical coma for X-time instead. Because I would say exhaustion rules are often ignored and I personally didn’t even know how many levels there are and what they do.

  • The first issue is Death Ward. It basically negates a big downside of the item.

The item also doesn’t seem that good for a desperation self sacrifice scenario. Most likely in any scenario where such a move is necessary the user won’t be anywhere near full hp. Reducing the value of the item. The small range also severely limits the use of the item.

I would say in a lot of scenarios casting any aoe spell centered on the person would achieve more. A simple fireball is around 28 damage with much higher aoe.

The item requires a lot of planning and preparation to be useful rather than being an emergency item to get out of a tricky situation. Which isn’t necessarily bad but goes against your inteded usage.

  • I am not really sure what you mean with their settlement. If you just mean the existence of Israel, then yes it’s fine to support that. If you are talking about their actual settlement policies, then no. I don’t think supporting a system of displacing people you deem “inferior” or “unwanted” to make room for “superior” people should be supported.

How to feel about the military response to the attacks is purely a personal choice. A fight against terrorists is never clean. And whether or not the amount of “collateral damages” is acceptable is up to you. I personally think that the attack by Hamas were extreme enough to warrent the response by the IDF. I don’t think you can expect someone to just turn the other cheek in this scenario. But I totally understand people who say any amount of civilian casualties is too much.

  • The big issue with removing the headphones jack is just that it’s now impossible to use wired headphones while charging the phone.

For a lot of people that doesn’t matter but for some of us that’s a big deal. If they added a second USB-C port that would fix the issue.

But saying the 3.5 jack is legacy technology is also kinda wrong. A USB headset is not inherently better. You have to compare the digital audio converter that’s used. While USB headphones use their own dac, the jack uses the dac of the phone. So a cheap phone with high quality USB headphones will be better but a high quality phone with cheap USB headphones would be worse than using the jack.

Which even means jacks would be more sustainable because you only need one dac per phone rather than one per headphone.

And any form of wireless headphones are just inferior to wired connections.

  • Monk 1/ Druid 11 works and is probably stronger than Druid 12. You gain Unarmored Defense and get to add your Wis modifier to your AC. That’s the only way the combo really works. And it basically plays like a full Druid. Obviously doesn’t work if you go down the Heavy Armor route.

Ranger 3 / Monk 9 works. You would take Gloomstalker and Way of the Shadow for some strong turn 1 shenanigans. If you go weapon Monk you even get to use Ensnaring Strike and Hunter’s Mark otherwise you have a few support spells. But doesn’t sound like the way you want to play.

  • Non of your suggestions have any real synergy. You are mostly just giving up things and don’t gain much of value in return.

For example Cleric/Druid makes no sense. You will have the same caster level as a single class Cleric or Druid but just won’t have any known 6th level spells. You just gain a few additional known 1st and 2nd level spells. But considering Cleric and Druid spells overlap a fair bit, it won’t even be that many.

Cleric 7/ Ranger 5 might be the best option. You still get the extra attack from the Ranger and get the Domain Spells Guardian of Faith + Death Ward. Your caster level would be 10. So still a lot of spell slots available. For leveling it kinda depends on the rest of your party but I would say the first 5 level go into Cleric, then you use Withers to respecc 5 into Ranger to gain the extra attack. Then put the rest in Cleric again. Any Bow build with a single attack will feel rather underwhelming. Yes you lose out on a feat but you are basically trading a feat for a 2nd bow attack. Cleric 8 for Radiant Strike would be pointless anyhow since it’s melee only.

Druid 7/ Ranger 5 might work in a similar way. Espeically if you like Moonbeam you can still have a single 5th level Moonbeam. Going higher in Ranger would hurt your Caster level too much.

But again, you don’t really gain any real advantage. For example Wizard 1/Cleric 11 is the same as Cleric 12 but you have access to all Wizard spells you can learn from scrolls including 6th level wizard spells. Or if you Mutliclass Ranger with Rogue to gain sneak attack, or with Fighter to gain action surge. That would give you some actual advantages.

  • I can talk a bit about the censorship. Censorship can be found in every type of media and has reached extreme levels under Xi.

First, all IPS in China have to block access to a lot of websites that are hosted outside of China. This includes sites like Google, Wikipedia, Netflix, CNN, and GitHub. Basically anything that is even slightly popular and can be used to share information or media. I am not sure if Lemmy is already on that list but if not it will be soon.

You can circumvent this by using VPNs but that’s illegal. People usually get away with it unless they actively go against the interests of the Chinese government. So consuming western media generally is fine but getting politically active isn’t.

Then there is a more active form of Censorship. There are a few government agencies whose purpose it is to go through all kinds of media and ban/delete anything that doesn’t align with the interests of the Chinese government. This is done automatically with stuff like image recognition software, algorithm analyzing texts, and today probably with some kind of “AI”. But also done manually by people reading through stuff. All media companies operating in China have to be compliant with this.

So if you use something like WeChat to share to information that’s critical of the Chinese government, it simply will get deleted as soon as it’s detected. The person who sent it could get into trouble depending on what exactly they tried to share. Anything that’s detected by the automated system the other person won’t even receive.

Movies, books, TV shows, and other forms of entertainment have to be approved before being released. This is kinda like the age rating agencies in western countries. Just way stricter and mandatory for every kind of publication or media.

An example on how ridiculous the censorship system is: A few years ago the General Manager of the Houston Rockets tweeted “Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong.”

This led to China disabling all NBA broadcasts for the rest of the year. The Rockets lost a lot of sponsorship money because of it. China said it will only return the broadcast if he gets fired. They returned earlier though. But a lot of popular people in the NBA spoke out against Morey for tweet, including LeBron James.

  • In BG3 encumbrance is so pointless. The increased carry capacity and reduced armor weight make it a non-factor. The few times you actually reach it you just sort by weight and send some of the heavier stuff to camp. You can even do it during combat. So they should have just gotten rid of it. You are bringing all your resources at all times anyhow and the inventory manamgent is still terrible.

The current system is just a minor inconvenience because you will have to go to your camp when you reach a vendor and want to get rid of some of the extra stuff. I would much prefer it if they either stick to the base rules, with base weight values and encumbrance starting at 5x the strength value. Then one would have to make actual decisions on what to bring. But right now, even with 8 strength you never have any issues. Or they just get rid of it.

And that’s how I feel about encumbrance in general. Most games have such absurd high carry limits that the system doesn’t add anything and just becomes an inconvenience and annoyance.

  • No I am not assuming it literally says so. They banned the Abaya starting this year. The headscarf ban and stricter enforcing of religious symbols was back in 2004.

The French education minister has said that nearly 300 pupils arrived at school on Monday wearing the abaya, the long Muslim robe which was banned in schools last week.

Yes, it is very hard to differentiate between cultural and religious clothings in the Arabic world. And that’s why banning the hardscarf while controversial is still supported by most. But things are starting to get ridiculous and is closer to “banning what is different”.

  • Where in the article is it mentioning that they covered their head? Do you mean the picture? They aren’t even showacsing an abaya in the picture. Some of the girls are wearing sweaters and long sleeved shirts. And the head is covered by a headscarf. Yes, it will be very difficult to find any depiction of people wearing an abaya without a headscarf because it’s mostly worn by muslims and they will cover their head with an additional headscarf. Just as it will be very rare to find any clothing displayed by muslim women without them covering their head.

At the end of August, the education minister announced that pupils would be banned from wearing the loose-fitting full-length robes

That is how they defined the abaya. A loose-fitting full-length robe. There is no mentioning of covering the head. The abaya is no more a religious clothing than any “church clothes” are. It’s like black ties that are worn at funerals, like white button down shirts worn by certain missionaries. These items see use outside of their religious areas and so to abayas. They are worn to many occasions and not explictly religious.
