I mean, your non-upgraded coins being worthless should be a pretty solid motivator.
Yes sure, fair point. I’m just pointing out that it’s all fiction.
All these “look at the thing the ai wrote” articles are utter garbage, and only appeal to people who do not understand how generative ai works.
There is no way to know if you actually got the ai to break its restrictions and output something “behind the scenes” or it’s just generating the reply that is most likely what you are after with your prompt.
Especially when more and more articles like this comes out gets fed back into the nonsense machines and teaches then what kind of replies is most commonly reported to be acosiated with such prompts…
In this case it’s even more obvious that a lot of the basis of its statements are based on various articles and discussions about it’s statements. (That where also most likely based on news articles about various enteties labeling Musk as a spreader of misinformation…)
I would agree with you if the same companies challenging copyright (protecting the intellectual and creative work of “normies”) are not also aggressively welding copyright against the same people they are stealing from.
With the amount of coprorate power tightly integrated with the governmental bodies in the US (and now with Doge dismantling oversight) I fear that whatever comes out of this is humans own nothing, corporations own everything. Death of free independent thought and creativity.
Everything you do, say and create is instantly marketable, sellable by the major corporations and you get nothing in return.
The world needs something a lot more drastic then a copyright reform at this point.
Yes switch2 definitely is the trigger for what ever evaluation internally at Nintendo causing this.
My take on this is that gold points was a method to drive digital purchases over physical media.
Nintendo gets all the revenue and don’t have to share with retailers, also digital is a lot cheaper then physical media to produce and distribute.
Now in 2025 digital numbers are so high that they no longer feel the incentive is worth it’s cost.
Also I would personally reserve the term “anti-consumer” for other more sinister things then removing a free perk or bonus… Nintendo have lots of practices that fall under this term, I don’t feel this is one.
Especially since they are giving quite a lot of room for you to spend whatever gold points you have on your account. Anti consumer would be outright refusing to cash in the point right away.
I was just thinking the other day that the plot of the matrix would make a lot more sense now.
The ai is running a simulation of the 90s to keep growing because everything after that is tainted with internet memes and increasing amount of ai slop.
America. Trying to emulate every aspect of the game Monopoly.
I guess other chance cards are next since the “get of jail free” card is implemented…
This is also due to the size of traffic these days.
Originaly (if we say, take early html as a starting point) it was mostly text, then later a few images.
These days a simple webpage needs large amounts of code and data just to load. So packets having to get to you in a roundabout way doesn’t just make the page take a little longer to load, it will most likely break the page.
But the infrastructure and ways of communication is really hard to take down and except for the few nations that have complete control over their own network, it is nearly impossible to break down communication completely. You would just need to rely on simpler data structures.
As others have stated fewer isp’s and core infrastructure providers do make the global network a bit more vulnerable today. And sites and services that lots of people consider “the internet” can be (at least for a while) taken down/offline.
No obviously the forces of Ukraine would be scared once he rode in on his unicorn.
Yes. I was about to post “time traveling Elon musk gets the idea for hyperlopp” :D
Or its compatible with joycons but you cannot connect them to the sides (new cons or constantly connected controls?)
The hybrid device route was so successful I doubt they will abandon it.
Wow… can we focus on the actual outrageous and horrible things this man did… Like commit fellonies for instance.
I mean he has done and said so much actual fucked up shit, it already waters down the impact, no need to contribute to it being diluted further…
If you are traveling across the Atlantic to get from Los Angeles to New York i would argue that you are traveling the wrong way…
Yes, and?
The point of distance is to take it into aggregate, for both modes of transport.
This is in fact the exact point i am making.
Per trip measurement implies that every trip (regardles of time or distance traveled) has equal danger.
I sort of answered this somewhere else but i will reiterate.
Using this metric you are sort of assuming all trips are equal. No matter how short, or long you are assuming the base danger is the same. This means that driving 100 meters is just as dangerous as driving for a whole day. (See what the problem is?)
And if we look at this premise in isolation: “Am i going to die on this trip”? If the trip is 100m, then a plane is probably out of the question either way. And if the trip is to a different country… then hey, look at that, the sources you cited come into relevance (where pr distance a plane is safer) and you would have to calculate the danger of completing that specific trip in a car VS flying that distance with a plane.
You are generalizing on terms that make no sense, since “total number of trips” in cars include all manner of different scenarios of some times extremely varying degree of danger. So in order to have data that is statistically relevant and in any form comparable you have to choose a different metric.
So to answer the question again “Am i going to die on this trip?” or to extrapolate “should i drive or fly on this trip”, if you cant use generic statistics, the answer will be “it depends. You have to calculate danger for the trip specifically”.
I honestly think you are showing a fundamental lack of understanding of statistics.
“Per trip” is a horribly poor metric. Because there is a fundamental difference between a trip down to the store, or a cross country trip, even with a car. Also it would be extremely dependent on where you are going, where you live etc. etc.
For the discussion to have any meaning you have to abstract it to a metric that makes sense for all people, or else you would have to also figure in where you usually travel, how good a driver you are etc etc etc.
At that point its a completely meaningless semantics exercise because for instance taking a plane to work is not realy valid for me since i live in the same city as i work… Or lets do it the other way around: If i need to go to Spain tomorrow, its safer for me to fly then to drive there. (This is based on your own sources)
I would think real statistics would be more interesting then peoples emotions when talking about what is actually dangerous.
Also to check if your controller has received update, see the update log on 8bitdos support page.
They are releasing updated firmwares as they get ready.
