  • Republicans don’t want this, because while they like to claim “blah blah spending this, spending that”, it’s not actually about reducing spending, it’s about punishing the poor(and a wide range of minorities, obviously). So the fact that giving MORE people access to healthcare would cost much LESS money in the end, means fuck all to them. Their only goal is maximizing the suffering of anyone who ain’t them, and convincing their base that someone else is the cause of all of their troubles.

Democrats meanwhile, have no interest in doing this either, since most of them aren’t even remotely progressives(whether they pretend to be or not), and like the Republicans, it doesn’t do much to line their pockets. As long as they can keep everyone just fucked over enough, while pretending to support progressive policies, the can keep pointing at the Republicans as boogeymen, saying “look, see what the right wants to keep from you? Better vote for us, or you’ll get trump again. ThIs iS THe mOSt imPOrTAnt elEcTIon oF yOUr lIfe.” But as soon as you vote them in, where does all of that support for those progressive policies go? POOF Never to be spoken of again, until next election, because they didn’t ever really support such policies in the first place.

So sure, I’m not going to go so far as to say that both sides are the same. Because clearly one side at least isn’t trying to bring back literal Nazis. But make no mistake, even if you have to vote Democrat to desperately keep MAGA out of power, the Democrats are not your friend. Democrats are not leftists. The are center right, at best. It’s just the Republicans have completely lost the plot, and ran so far to the right, that everyone else looks to be left by comparison.

  • Wait, do we actually get something for our old lifetime Pocketcasts licenses? Because I remember when they switched the app to being free, with any extra features being locked behind a subscription, existing licenses holders got… not anything, as far as I remember. I’ve been using the app daily for years now, and have no reason to give it up, but I don’t feel like having bought the license back in the day is getting me anything extra over what a new free-tier user is getting now. Am I missing something?

  • Better yet, they should come to us with the plan that’s going to make ANY of the Democrats or Republicans work with a 3rd party president to allow them to get anything done. Even if some insane miracle occurred, and a 3rd party candidate got elected president, they would accomplish absolutely nothing, as it is not in the political interest of either Democrats or Republicans to work with them. In spite of what Trump would like people to believe, presidents are not dictators and can’t just do whatever the hell they want. All of the people endlessly screaming about how there are more choices simply refuse to accept this fact.

  • Some still do. I just started working at Walmart, and they give you a Samsung phone to do your job. You use the camera for scanning tags, shelving, check item status, and a bunch of other shit. It’s a modern phone, with USB c, fingerprint sensor in the power button, android 13, stupid hole-punch camera, etc. And when I pulled off the otterbox case they gave me with it, I found that the back pulls off and the battery pops out, like all of my phones used to do back in the day. I assume that’s so they can more easily keep these phones in use, as they can pull out a failing battery and pop a new one in without having to send the phone sent off for servicing.

As long as everything is wired properly, and there’s not too much going on on any individual circuit, that’s an awesome setup for so many things. Imagine you’re a streamer/YTer, OF girl, maybe musician with a big recording setup, etc. How nice is it to not need a shit ton of extension cords, power strips, splitters, etc, to plug in all of your camera chargers, lights, audio devices, other assorted devices required for such a setup. Even though I didn’t film/stream when I was painting/crafting, I still needed so many power strips to plug in my lights, airbrush compressor, paint booth fans and lights, Dremel and other tool chargers, laptop, 3d printer and wash station, mini fridge, and other assorted items. I only have 2 outlets. So yeah.

  • Bought the deck, upgraded to a 2tb SSD, upgraded the cooling, swapped the shell, added additional grips on the sticks, pads, triggers, rear buttons, did some overclocking and undervolting, spent many hours tweaking various setting and plugins, etc. I’ve played a couple of hours of Mario golf on yuzu, and haven’t otherwise touched it for a single other game. I’ve had it for 8 months. And the $2k gaming laptop that I ended up with a couple of months ago really kind of put the nail in the coffin. I had big plans for the Deck when I bought it(and the many accessories, upgrades, and mods), and those plans just kinda… didn’t become a thing.

I’ve been thinking about pulling the SSD and putting the 512gb back in, and just selling. The only thing stopping me is that I have some ideas on possible major life changes for this time next year(think tiny and/or mobile living arrangements), where the form factor of the Deck would/should be beneficial. That was the original intended purpose of me buying it to begin with. But even there, the laptop is plenty small, and vastly more powerful. Just not sure I see a reason to have both, and if forced to choose one or the other, I mean…

Their goal is pretty standard affair.

    1. Claim to be simply making yourself part of the group for the benefit of everyone. We’re all gonna be friends, this is good for you, you’ll see.
    2. Use your position and resources to make yourself the defacto way to use the tech. Bonus points of you can make the average person see you and said tech as being one in the same.
    3. Once you have gathered a high enough percentage of the users, simply make changes or take other actions that will cut yourself off from everywhere else, effectively cutting off those users from anywhere that is not you. Since most of them are already “your” users, barely any of them will even notice anything change, let alone care.
    4. Repeat previous steps for any new competing service that covers along to threaten you.
