got really tired of the “-core” haters, they seem to get upset only at the naming convention because hardcore influences often make a subgenre even heavier

like have you ever heard of mathcore?? that shits peak, its one of the noisiest subgenres i know AND it has hardcore influence

    gatekeepers can stay mad

  • id argue a police officers job is hard in a police state as well,

i of course agree with acab but i also think its worth empathizing with officers whose mental health has been ruined by their training (see That Dang Dad on youtube who WAS a police officer and still experiences the pain of his “training”). theyre trained to be afraid and see danger everywhere, which is fucked, and as such being a police officer is not a job with 0 drawbacks. we all hate police, i sure as hell do, but no one should be trained to live in permanent fear, seeing murderers in everyone.

  • people like me who can be bothered by it

you not being upset by it doesnt necessarily mean there arent people who are upset by references to suicide or portrayals of sharp objects in this context

its not quite necessary or expected on lemmy as far as i can see but its definitely appreciated when i have to see one less triggering post, cause the stress does add up

though i will point out that its pretty useless when the image isnt spoilered or hidden within the body cause who reads the title first and THEN decides if they want to see the post

  • finally an acknowledgment of this

ive had to leave quite a few trans or generally lgbt focused communities online because of wild levels of codependence

the intense empathy in these communities can sometimes leave people susceptible to certain sorts of manipulation i feel,

several members of those communities i was in would be so easily manipulated by others, with threats like “do ____ or i will harm myself or i will not take care of myself appropriately”

and these often came from people in genuinely concerning and upsetting situations or histories, but they could use their own trauma to rope other people in and seemingly take them down with them

walking away from these kinds of people despite their threats is incredibly liberating
