Trying to figure out the total trade between the G7 doesn’t seem to work, since 1, the US is a member, which is going to massively skew the results, and also 2, a lot of things that get traded between the G7 nations are products from outside the G7.

the weirdest part of the UK is that it’s seemingly the most dysfunctional country currently. Like, they had some of the biggest tech and industrial headstarts you can imagine, and somehow they managed to learn fuck all. The second their empire stopped sending them tribute, their country began a slow collapse, which we’re now seeing accelerate. I genuinely struggle to think of a worse example of how to run a country, and it’s seemingly done for no reason. The people who are destroying the country aren’t even making out like bandits, like we saw in Russia after the murder of the Soviet Union, but is done entirely for ideological reasons. And when the ideology runs into the simple material fact that their thinking is plainly wrong, they just double down and do more of the same. It’s maddening!

It’s like half the punchlines in the Dilbert comic, so I have no idea why they pretend this is new. I think it was also used as a joke in Seinfeld.

American Christians are christians as a lifestyle brand. Anything the Bible actually says is second to what the Bible can be used to justify. If you have a pastor who quotes the Bible to justify hating LGBT people or doing domestic violence to a partner, or dropping bombs on other christians who happen to be born in another country, then you can be definition not be in the wrong, as your actions are sanctioned by God.

NYC is heavily democrat, but they used to love electing republican mayors, particularly if the suburbanites get scared about “crime” or terrorism. Remember that they had both Rudy Gulliani (back when his brain kind of worked) and Mike Bloomberg (back when he was a republican) within the past couple of decades.

Came across a tweet of a guy saying that he talked to a guy in Israel who was really enjoying the current state of things. His argument was that he would take his family out to eat every night/evening, and when an iranian strike was imminent, and the sirens would go off, he could legally run from the table without paying the bill.

Don’t care if this story is true or not, it made me chuckle.

Isn’t it a bad sign that the young-guy-candidate is only ahead of the boomer candidate by 4% the day before the election, since the early voting would presumably benefit Zohran Mamdani more than it would Governor R-word?
