We even disconnected the wire that tells the alternator to stop charging the battery…

There’s another trick I use sometimes when nothing else works…
Use ANOTHER computer to install Windows onto the the original laptop drive. (make sure that computer you’re using has no other drives plugged in).
once the installation process is complete, during the reboot countdown, turn off the computer instead, don’t let it reboot.
install the drive back into the original computer
I’ve used that method to get around off lease or auction laptops where I couldn’t reset/remove/clear/reflash the bios password and all the boot stuff/order is locked down

Now I want a fallout: new Vegas remaster but every ghoul is handsome Squidward…

oh I forgot about Plexamp. Its been my main music app since it also does Android auto.
It just works so well and nothing else comes close so far.

This was the security report from awhile back:
https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues/5415
Lot’s of things have been fixed but theres still much to do. The issue was broken down to smaller issues for tracking and I check back every once in a while.
Even if there were no security issues, exposing jellyfin is also another can… choice of:

There’s still a bunch of outstanding API security issues last I checked, so it’s not secure enough for me to open to the web.
Teaching friends and family to use it with a VPN is a whole another can. Also, you’ll have to make sure the VPN is secure and users don’t have access to the rest of your network…
and then you’ll have to deal with client apps/access for mobile, android boxes, TVs, and Chromecasts…
I got lucky with the Plex Pass too so I can only ride this out to the end until Jellyfin catches up. (also, I’m not good to contribute code)
what happened with CWA? I was thinking of using it
I highly recommend openmediavault as well. Been using it for all my servers. After you get it installed, just make sure to install the omv-extras plugin so you can use docker/docker-compose from the UI (if you want).
Gives you a nice web GUI and is Debian based so you can dive into the CLI if you want.
Just be aware that you shouldn’t modify some files that are managed by Openmediavault (like the fstab) and never install a desktop environment or you’ll break openmediavault.

Did nextcloud ever fix the bug that would randomly destroy date metadata on photos and reset it to 1970? I had about 20% of my library affected (thank backup of backups!)
I was never able to get .heic previews working properly 2 years back either.
I’m using Immich now and its a lot less of a hassle after leaving beta and breaking changes behind

instead of sunshine, try apollo.
https://github.com/ClassicOldSong/Apollo
it’s a branch of sunshine but supports virtual displays (and some other stuff).
i can launch moonlight on any of my clients (phone - 2316x1080, laptop - 2880x1800, laptop connected monitor - 2560x1440p) and the virtual monitor will spawn and match the client resolution automatically.
when I disconnect, the resolution will revert back to the desktop connected monitor.
this won’t let you use your desktop while streaming games elsewhere though. You’ll need to do VM’s or Docker+wolf for something like that.
nice! what’s that first card you used for the home security?
i would probably do it with two+ automations. Something like:
ON automation:
time pattern - beginning of every 3 hoursOFF automation:
Manual Event
timer.finished (case sensitive!)entity_id: timer.[timer_helper_entity]STARTUP_CHECK automation:
state - timer helper is idleNote 1: make sure the timer helper has restore state and time when HA starts enabled
note 2: automations using the timer.finished event will not trigger on startup if the timer expires when Home Assistant is not running.
note 2a: the third automation is for your edge case that you reboot/shutdown HA when the OFF automation was supposed to fire. it should ensure the AC turns off after the timer was supposed to be finished and HA is started. this automation does not account for if the AC is turned on manually and you restart HA.
i can get you the .YAML or pictures when I’m at a computer.
