In the 2000s and early 2010s, less of your life was lived on a cell phone or smartphone.
For kids now, it’s 100% of their lives. Post-COVID, the majority of social interaction between peers is through a social media app.
That means that close to 100% of kids are on their phones during the school day. If you aren’t, you run the risk of social isolation and FOMO.
Administrators can’t send a kid to detention for using their phone because ALL kids would be in detention every day.

The neighborhoods in Chicago are very diverse (racially/ethnically, socially, socioeconomically) so it really depends on what you’re looking for.
Do you want a fun lively neighborhood with a lot of night life? Look at Lakeview, River North or Logan Square.
Do you want a quiet family oriented neighborhood? Look at North Center or Lincoln Square.
Do you want to be in a more affluent neighborhood? Look at Ravenswood, Andersonville or Lincoln Park.
These are just a handful of places all on the north side, and they tend to be whiter. If you can give more info about what kind of area you are interested in, I can help more specifically.
