I would think a simple passive stylus for capacitive touch screens would work fine.
As an android enthusiast, who also is into the 3D printing scene, my first thought was “what does this launcher have to do with OctoPi and OctoPrint?”.

Keep in mind that a factory reset won’t put the device back on a stable release, it’s just clearing out the data for the currently installed firmware.

Were all the materials transparent?
Most likely the update will contain the boot.img which would overwrite you’re rooted kernel, assuming a rooted Samsung device still takes updates.
The carrier can look at the packets TTL and assume if it’s not what they expect then it must have originated from another device via the hotspot. Verizon did, or maybe still does, use this to throttle hotspot traffic but not data originating from the phone.
Did they even resolve the issues with the Rust implementation of coreutils?
