Okay well the graphics look bloody beautiful and I appreciate her commitment to starting with the first book (cough cough, looking at you disney, and you BBC)

Heard there’s some growing distrust around this series for a few reasons like Aslan is apparently being voiced by a woman? Could be a lie, sounds like ragebait, but it is something which would annoy me, to be honest. If you know C.S Lewis lore you’ll get why.

I mean, it’s Meryl Streep, I’m sure she’ll do a good job. They’re keeping a male lion form, and using a female voice which is interesting.

The character is a talking lion, so I’m willing to suspend disbelief and base my opinion on the show. Magicians Nephew has always been my favorite, even though it’s simpler than the rest.

There are film adaptations that essentially adapt the text and frame it so as to be an exaggerated parody of the source material. Adaptations and remakes change elements for all sorts of reasons, sometimes arbitrarily, not always in line with the original creators’ vision. That’s what makes it an adaptation.

Sometimes fans of a work complain so much about “changes” it just makes me think what they really want is the book to be projected on-screen exactly as-is with no deviation or mind paid to how it’s gonna read in 2026 compared to 1955 … But you can just read the book.

I love “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” but a completely accurate screen adaptation is impossible. Not just because the narration describes things that are impossible to visualise, but also because some of the cultural jokes are now meaningless.
