Hi. I was wondering if there are some important isolated servers that do not participate in the federation and thus require joining them? Or these are mostly small private servers that are not worth attention in general?

“Important” is subjective.
Isolated servers might be very niche, and not of interest to you. Some are kept low-key by their owners for a variety of reasons. Others are intentionally isolated by other servers, because they are toxic.
You’re probably fine with the federated collections of servers.
