The angriest one if my friends has ever been at me was when I suggested that his best-case-scenario of a total Ukrainian victory with all territory gained back and Russia utterly defeated might not actually be a better outcome for Ukrainians than an immediate capitulation right now (I was having this discussion in 2023, when the meat was still being actively ground). I don’t think people really internalize the cost of even a “successful” war.
War is just a numbers game to people these days. Especially war-gamers.
as a war-gamer I play tall and I have to care about my logistics/soldiers or else my entire run is fucked and hinging on rng in each single division push.
Honestly, that is usually a winning strategy depending on faction bonuses. But I know many people who are just addicted to map-painting.
Playing tall is just map painting with an eraser on hand
I could spend hours devving provinces, microing trade, buildings/sector creation and playing with my civics/society modifiers; it does depend on the game/faction but I generally love to play tall unless I’m doing a hivemind in Stellaris that requires constant growth to survive. I’ve had many hours on Eu4 as a tiny german bumfuck city-state that use that strategy especially
Fatal - not for the humans who are escaping, of course, but fatal to some vague idea of a corrupt, collapsing state based on the legacy of a failed alliance between local ultranationalists and Nazi germany.
I think dying to a Russian missile is more fatal. Support to anyone who evades conscription in a bourgeois war.
here’s why they should be fed to the grinder instead
yeah i’m really not sure what people thought was gonna happen. send enough dudes into no man’s land to get kamikaze droned will eventually have you running out of dudes
they have any left?
