It was only a landslide because the center right parties literally did everything in their power to lose on purpose. I think she would have won anyway because people hate the center right parties but it would have been close if FG and FF didn’t fuck up so hard.

Also the far right nazi part of the country didn’t vote and instead, sent in hundreds of thousands of spoiled votes to complain about immigrants, queer people, and shit.

That should be the actual news story.

Free Northern Ireland from “Reform UK” occupation!

note: The Northern Ireland seems to be the last real colony of the UK, isolated parts of the Irish island through Brexit, and might unite the Irish against the right-wing UK (who will soon elect “reform UK”).

Center is safer than the suburbs here. If you are a POC city center where I used to live is mostly immigrants from India, Africa, Asia, and the middle east.

The suburbs of North west, and south west dublin, especially Tallaght, jobstown, Balleyfermot etc are where all the racist white people are who attack immigrants. I live in that area now and its a lot less safe here than fucking city center.

Im here fleeing American Fascism and I think even if/when Irish fascism comes it will be too late and not as bad as the American version. Im kinda betting on IRish politics being years behind on everything else so that by the time western fascism blows up in its face again it just wont happen here. Also in the process of moving here I found my wife so Im kinda stuck here :/

Maybe they’ll finally build more public housing. Everybody I know there lives cramped in a tiny room that costs 1000 euros a month.

They could tax all the multinational who have their headquarters there. Especially since brexit.

i mean i was in bulgaria last time. President had no real power either but he had the symbolic power of calling out corruption of the prime minister. People took the street to defend him.

      • my sister in law is is being evicted because her landlord is selling the place, its not even central Dublin (like 40 mins on the bus), but the cheapest shit they can find is €2000+ pm for a single bedroom flat.

Meanwhile her boss is this openly corrupt pub landlady who uses her personal bank account for the company finances of a 100yo cocktail bar that she’s gonna run into the ground despite it being massively successful. Fucking scum parasite FUCKS I despise Dublin and all it stands for.

My friends dad is a disabled poor white guy living in a poor Dublin working class community. He lives off the government and recently he’s basically turned into Hitler from what I can tell. He fucking LOVES Mcgreggor. Irish hitler is going to come sooner than libs realize.

I remember when I first moved here 3 years ago, and I told Irish libs who chastised me about American politics that they are also a part of the imperial core and that the imperial boomerang will come around and hit Ireland too.

They didn’t belive me. They said none of this would happened. I went to everything fucking protest, joined communist groups when I first moved here. Im so fucking tired.

Same. I was living with a divorcee as housemate down in cork. Dude’s was an orphan turned gangster. But he wasn’t nazi yet. He loved our brazilian housemate and all. I gave him a birthday cake once. He felt into my arms crying saying nobody ever did anything that nice to him, can u imagine. But then last time he was like “too much of dem”. Breaks my heart.

The same thing as last time sweetie. I’m belgian. My grandparents they lived through nazi occupation. My grandma was like 14 with her 8yo sisters. They took over an abandonned farm. They were alone. The parents stayed. Her dad was part of a resistance network that put a mess in the train system and hid people from the nazis.

I know it’s very dark time but despair is not an option.

If only the president was a position that held real power there, not a figurehead. And if this lady was as much of a communist as the last famous Irish left revolutionary with that last name.
