    Eh, it’s old peoples candy. Werther’s originals are much the same and they’re definitely not American. Could be a naming thing, root beer in au and nz is usually called sarsaparilla for example

      Thanks for the Sarsaparilla tip. As this is in some form also available in East Asia, I may have a chance finding it in an asia market, of which we have lots around here!

        Just be careful as we use the name interchangeably but it may NOT be the same thing. I’ve had sars that tastes like AWS root beer…i’ve also had sars that tastes more like chinotto
