Bluesky currently has over 275,000 users, and over 1.9 million people are on the waitlist to join.
Damn I had no idea. What is so special about it? Is it federated?
Well, just Mastodon pulls about twice those number in just a single week. Here are the numbers from just a few minutes ago. Image below.
Once it’s out of invite only it’s very likely it’ll surpass mastodon pretty much instantly
Most normies have no idea what BlueSky is and they have no sister apps like Threads has to sling shot adoption.
It will likely be all over the media when it opens though.
It will be federated, but not with activitypub. It looks like they’re developing a more comprehensive system for federation
