It’s the kind of thing they use in school in New Zealand (Aotearoa) to teach kids the basics of Te Reo Maori pronunciation. Here’s a video with a lesson in pronunciation.
If you can track it down there’s a 2002 movie called Whale Rider which is a good watch and features some Te Reo as well as portraying some other aspects of traditional Maori culture.
what is written?
Means ‘lmao’
Apparently means ‘no way’ in Maori (Google translate with auto detection)
ETA: Google translate is unsurprisingly shit. Thanks to contentedness for taking the time to prove why
what does this mean?
Isn’t that just the sound of the razor?
no thats in english (US). but how does zzzzzzzz translate to american from french?
If I follow the Maori hypothesis, I think you would have to rotate the text 180° because it’s in the southern hemisphere
So it would mean
zzzzzzzz
The fuck if I know
Teu pai is also “your dad” in Portuguese. But I’m not aware of “ala” as an expression on Portuguese.
“ala” is the short form of “olha lá” (means “look there”)
Fun fact: The Te Reo Maori alphabet doesn’t contain the letter “L”. So I don’t think “ala” could be a valid Maori word at all.

Could you give some context to the linked image please? I’m intrigued

Here’s a similar resource used to teach colours.
If you want to hear some spoken Te Reo here’s a short video which tells the story of the great hero Maui taming the sun.
Thanks a lot! Super cool stuff, I’ll be learning a bit of Maori, then.
You’re welcome!
