I’m only a casual Who fan, catching up on it sporadically every so often… does it actually have a cohesive view of the future? It’s hard to imagine that over decades of stories popping randomly throughout time they’ve maintained a intelligible future chronology. I assume fans have collated every single reference and tried to massage them together, but does it actually hold up at all?

I don’t think they usually worry too much about continuity. They’ll try to make things line up and explain inconsistencies sometimes, but there’s a lot of times the writers say “wibbly wobbly, timey wimey” and try to tell a fun story without being locked into things. Seeing that approach for so many years is probably why I normally don’t mind the inconsistencies between the various Star Trek shows!

The overall lore is that humans in the future build empires and enslave several species like the ood.

Humans conquer planets and dry all it’s resources with no regards for native life, they drain the swap and enslave the swamp people to mine toxic minerals.

Companies are all powerful, and the government extremely corrupt.
