Interesting. I’m not that knowledgeable about Linux desktop environments (despite running popos on my desktop and mint on an old laptop). I feel like gnome has a lot of tweaks and widget-y things. Is that kind of ecosystem going to crop up here? I didn’t tweak much- just turned off edge tiling and added a big date/time widget to the desktop.

Also what’s the upgrade path going to look like? I just installed with the defaults so /home isn’t on its own partition.

It will be more customizable than Gnome with default settings. Tweaks won’t be needed for certain customizations. It more likely will become an ecosystem like Gnome or KDE but that will take some time.

Not sure about the upgrade path from their current Gnome setup but I’m sure they will figure something out by the time stable is released.

Please have the ability to swap between audio devices on the same sound card. This was my only major holdback last time I trialled cosmic

tried cosmic a while back, absolutely loved the way it looked and could be customized but gestures didnt work/wasnt implemented yet (?) so it was a pain to switch to using keyboard shortcuts again. if the beta includes the gestures features id love to give it a try again

What’s the source, and why didn’t they announce this themselves on their blog like usual ?
