The implication being that using national guard troops is correct to use in response to civilian crime. Spoiler: it’s fucking not. Not ever. Fuck off NYT, normalizing fascism

They really went hard on the normalization with this one. I gave up on NYT a long time ago, but I still manage to be appalled by their decision-making. I guess I still hold out hope that they’ll see the light and understand the harm they consistently cause, but they’ve had, what, more than a century to figure it out?

Well, in all fairness, the regime is currently using that narrative, so it is at least apropos. The problem is the regime is lying, they are not fighting crime, they are intimidating citizens of the nation. The point still stands, they are taking guards from states with high crime rates and deploying them in blue states, because “crime”. They are pointing out the obvious lie, while trying not to bring the ire of the sitting US emperor at the same time. This is the land of the free y’all voted for and just accept. Don’t nickle and dime the regime raping children and genociding Muslims on the other side of the globe for vacation properties. You gotta charge them the full bill, and I’d say it’s well past due.
