You watch wrestling for the spectacle, the acrobatics, the drama. It’s literally entertainment, people don’t go to the theatre and feel disappointed because “it was scripted”. Besides, none of the stunts they pull are “fake”. They risk their body integrity and sometimes even their lives for entertainment.
Penn and Teller do a bit with a nail gun where Penn does a monologue about how they are magicians so there is obviously a trick, and that’s the point - they want the audience to come along and enjoy the show and watch them do things that seem dangerous, while knowing that even if something goes wrong they aren’t going to be complicit in someone getting hurt or killed by encouraging them to take those risks.
Idk, not really relevant to what you said, but I think about that a lot
I mean, with wrestling that’s the whole point.

With politics, yeah, that’s fucked up

Reality TV and Wrestling are there to make people accept scripted realities. The whole point of wrestling is to fuck up politics.
