Yeah, same here. I’ve almost stopped watching it a few times, a lot of the sub themes around the crew were kinda stupid compared to the original books.
The books had zero side story, if I recall correctly. It was a short novella with only SecUnit’s biased and somewhat unreliable point of view. I think the crew’s cringey moments in the adaptation were tasteful since it helps illustrate how uncomfortable SecUnit feels.
They were minor hints mostly, but a lot of his annoyance seemed to stem from them not always taking his advice and how they weren’t operating with efficiency, but rather trying to be decent humans. I think they went a bit over the top on the show, which detracted from my viewing of the show.
