Same number of jobs, less work time per weak.
That’s how it should be.
So we’re gonna start implementing UBI right?
I think they prefer to kill us
I don’t see how. “AI” as we know it now is technically not AI and it is growing progressively worse. Even AI that is “grounded appropriately” on walled gardens of data has begun to widely hallucinate and go off track. There is a reason that companies lay people off for this and then realize they need to re-hire. Big tech is trying to convince the world this is the solution when it doesn’t work the way they claim for shareholders and shareholders alone.
Don’t get me wrong, I use AI all of the time. And it speeds up some of my job. But it is wrong 90% of the time and I have to check everything to the point that it’s more of a time suck in most cases.

🤦♂️
new Amazon ceo?
The Amazon FC nearest me was previously CONSTANTLY hiring due to the turnover rate but now they haven’t been for some time. I worked there for three years and we all suspected it was only a matter of time before most of those jobs were automated.
I have to admit, that my small business has benefitted from ai.
It’s a small 1.5 person business. So there is really no budget to hire artists or programmers.
I’ve been able to switch away from using generic stock photos, I’ve even had it help me selfhost some thing to get further away from Microsoft.
So now, my presentation to clients looks much more professional.
I’m not saying everyone can use it the same ways, I have a background in computer security, so I can secure my services reasonably well.
LLMs are just a tool. It’s not the devil the doomsayers make it out to be. And it’s not the shining new golden age either.
Jobs might be killed, but jobs will be created. Does it suck when your jobs becomes obsolete? Yeah totally. Same as when blacksmiths became less popular. Should we still be “driving” horses to keep them?
Uh I think we should definitely “keep alive” the literal millennia of human knowledge and culture that went into horse riding. Also they’re invaluable in case technology/society regresses too much.
Noone is keeping anyone from doing it. Be my guest. Just don’t expect to get paid for a job rarely anyone needs anymore. Maybe blacksmith wasn’t the best example that came up, but hey I bet you’re driving a car (or a bike) and do not keep a horse at home, so…

We get it: you worship the machine.
What’s the .zip stereotype?
To be clear: I’m just poking fun, here.
But there are some pro-AI communities on that instance.
lol. But no, I would not use that term.
“We can see how they’ve changed you, how you’ve sacrificed your humanity to appease them.” I said as i nervously looked around before urgently contining “they’ll be your downfall! Save yourselves while you still can!”
Seeing a couple bot-heads meandering nearby i decided I didn’t want to stick around—we all know what happens if a bot-head catches you publically opposing our digital overlords.
