    Before anyone decides to buy something from the dutch electronics giant assuming it is dutch, they sold off their domestic appliance division years ago and the products are produced and sold by a Chinese company that licences the Phillips name. I don’t think the quality changed, but I feel this is worthwhile mentioning in any buy european community.

    Versuni primarily sells small appliances under the Philips brand (under license from Philips). These include: Air fryers, Rice cookers, Blenders, Kettles, Clothes irons, Clothes steamer, Vacuum cleaners, Air purifiers.

    Versuni also sells domestic coffee makers, under the Philips, Gaggia, Saeco, Senseo and L’Or brands.

    They sell a variety of home appliances in India under the Preethi brand, including mixer-grinders.

    Philips-branded electric toothbrushes and rotary shavers, are not made by Versuni, but continue to be manufactured and sold by Philips itself under its Personal Care division. via: https://w.wiki/EFTD

      This is such an important point. (Again, not that they are bad companies, but given the community)

      There are so many European companies sold out to american or Chinese moneymen.

      Philips, milka, suunto fitness devices, Skype, Volvo, lotus, pirelli, many food brands that haven’t sold out to nestle, etc…

      Or compagnies only European by name with all IP, R&D, and production in China or elsewhere (mostly tech industry): Nokia phones (HMD global), Nothing phones, etc…

      I think the quality has been pretty lacklustre for a long time… I don’t buy Philips stuff anymore

        They sold the division to a Chinese investment fund, but I think the current manufacturer was already manufacturing these products long before. I didn’t want to include my opinion in the comment because that wasn’t my point but I probably wouldn’t buy their stuff if it was owned by a European company. Maybe if a certain product range had good reviews but I guess it’s mediocre across the board.

        That is actually not true. Miele for example has a couple parts available: Miele

        Skoda has models of their cars, but no replacement parts Skoda

        So far the Philips model feels like a marketing stunt. And it is working judging by the number of posts about it in the last weeks.

      But actually pretty promising. I’ve been trying to learn cad just to print a replacement for a hair clipper comb. Their first model is a comb for a beard trimmer. This could be great.

      Yeah this is why I’m withholding praise for the moment. Once this covers a lot more parts I shall sing philips’ virtues to the stars.

    Didn’t Ford do something similar with the Maverick?

    Hope to see this expand in items and companies, especially for items nearing the end of their viable life (well viable for the company profit not the user).
