Israel says it is cutting off its electricity supply to Gaza. The full effects of that are not immediately clear, but the territory’s desalination plants receive power for producing drinking water.

Sunday’s announcement comes a week after Israel cut off all supplies of goods to the territory to over 2 million people. It has sought to press Hamas to accept an extension of the first phase of their ceasefire. That phase ended last weekend. Israel wants Hamas to release half of the remaining hostages in return for a promise to negotiate a lasting truce.

Hamas has pressed to start negotiations on the ceasefire’s more difficult second phase instead, which would see the release of remaining hostages from Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and a lasting peace. Hamas is believed to have 24 living hostages and the bodies of 35 others.

Yet another reminder that if a god does exist, they’re the type who likes burning ants with a magnifying glass.

      Epicurus said it best:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God

Maybe god’s power isn’t absolute. He can do things, but it takes effort on his part and stops him from doing other things.

And my counter to that would be: so? Maybe god’s power isn’t absolute. He can do things, but it takes effort on his part and stops him from doing other things.

              So he is lazy?

Either God is dead, not omnipotent or an asshole.

None of those are things that should give you the feeling that you should pray to him/it

I’ll never understand the anti-theist obsession with religion. They survey everything before them, scanning for signs of faith like a hawk searching for mice.

For me, one of the best things about atheism is I can automatically depreciate the significance of all that dumb shit.

Because it’s a blight on society, and it cripples people’s ability to think critically.

We are living in the results of a society founded on and formed by Christianity. It’s bad.

I actually disagree. I think most people who share your view of religion come at it from a fundamental point of misunderstanding.

Don’t get me wrong, most devout followers of religions also have fundamental misunderstandings. People like you tend to be unwilling to learn though and immediately jump to trying to invalidate the experiences and reasonings of others.

I’d say it’s coming from a position of fear more than anything else. You’re afraid of what you don’t know and rather than admit you could be wrong about something, you double-down and cover your ears. It’s an easy response to have. It’s harder to open your mind and accept that the people you disagree with might know more about something than you do.

Its the “chosen by god to save your souls” fervor probably, which gives the licence to fuck everybody’s lives.

And the one that sends gay people and the people that shop on sundays to hell and sees both as sins as bad as each other but has no problem with slavery.
