Hello,

I have an Oryx Pro (2021 - oryp8) and I am using a CalDigit TS4 Thunderbolt Dock (a really, really nice piece of hardware!) and if I boot, or reboot the Oryx Pro while it is plugged into the dock the system will not boot.

The boot gets as far as displaying the System76 logo but it hangs there.

If I unplug the cable to the dock and then power off the Oryx Pro and then power it back on it will fully boot.

It would be nice if the system would fully boot while the TB4 dock is plugged in. It would be nice if the Oryx Pro were “smarter” about the devices that it see during the boot process.

Side note - when I do plug the TS4 dock into the Oryx Pro it really takes quite a while for the system to figure everything out and get the multiple monitor configuration and the mouse and keyboard connected (I would say at least 20 - 30 seconds or more - I have never timed it though).

So, is it possible to boot with a Thunderbolt dock plugged in? Will it ever be possible?

Thanks!

I had this happen when I had an HDMI cable plugged in but my graphics were set to integrated only, so no Nvidia card. If you set your graphics to hybrid or Nvidia do you still have the issue.

It would be nice if the system booted and just didn’t use the external monitor causing the issue.
