I guess you can say that while all journalists are propagandists, they are much more succesful propagandists in the west. Probably because people are far less sceptical of the news here. There’s that old joke about a KGB agent and a CIA agent having a chat in a bar.

“I have to admit, I’m always so impressed by Soviet propaganda. You really know how to get people worked up,” the CIA agent says.

“Thank you,” the KGB says. “We do our best but truly, it’s nothing compared to American propaganda. Your people believe everything your state media tells them.”

The CIA agent drops his drink in shock and disgust. “Thank you friend, but you must be confused… There’s no propaganda in America.”

Another good perspective that got the point across to me, thanks for sharing

Of course, I always find talking to hexbear users interesting. I appreciate those of you who take the time to try and help me (and others) understand your perspective. The memeing and clowning on outsiders is usually pretty amusing from my point of view as well.

That’s a very nice and healthy attitude to have. I’m really happy to hear it.

The memeing and clowning comes from a relatively reasonable place too tbh. It’s incredible how many people will pop into hexbear, say something they don’t know anything about, get defensive when people engage like how I engage with you and then call all of us bots or cry about civility when people start treating them how they’re treating people. I’ve seen the term “wrecker” used to describe the behaviour. I think there’s been a lot of wreckers, so people are just a bit agressive when they perceive people acting in bad faith. That means well-meaning people end up catching strays, which is really sad.
I came here from another comm some time ago and I had gotten the hexbear treatment too. Took a while to realise why I’d gotten it.
