• The logic doesn’t even make sense. Interpol has non-country members such as Gibraltar and American Samoa …

Even other parts of China (Hong Kong and Macao) are members of Interpol. So there’s really no justification to not have Taiwan join - even if it has to do so under a funky name like “Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu”

Also Taiwan is the remains of the original legal government of China. Which meant mainland China wasn’t recognized originally after the revolution.
Which was of course equally stupid.

Taiwan is an independent country, failing to recognize that is immoral. Pleasing China by recognizing their one China policy, is equally immoral, and will only serve to encourage China in their hostilities against Taiwan, exactly as was the case with Russia and Ukraine and other previous Soviet states.

Actually, not exactly the same, as in 2022 Ukraine was generally recognized as a fully independent country when it was invaded. Whereas, generally countries do not get involved when another country deals with a matter within its own internal territory… thus Taiwan’s current situation is more precarious in some ways.

Being the remains of another government that originated from another area has, in a lot of ways, hurt the people of Taiwan.
