  • Keep voting “against immigrants”. Surely they are to blame for everything wrong in this world. Just as “the queers”. Anybody different in fact is the problem, especially if they are less fortunate than you, and doubly more if they cannot defend themselves. Those that are successful, rich and powerful though, earned it all by themselves and are fully deserving of it. They are just trying to help this country. Don’t you dare look up to see where money is going. Look down.

  • Parents would need to get more support from the state:

    • parenting classes (before and after having kids to stay on top of science)
    • salary for having and raising well-behaved children
    • free education
    • free transport

Unfortunately, you can’t rely on people “doing the right thing”. If could, then laws wouldn’t be necessary. You’d never have to lock your door or fear for any violence or untoward behavior from fellow human beings.

Yes, parents are responsible and self-determination is important (it’s your child not that of the state), but people are flawed. They will make decisions against their own self-interest or against those that they love (or claim to) e.g not caring about climate change despite having children. Giving people enough rope to be free and too much to hang themselves is not an easy task.

  • I don’t understand your reasoning. Do you think being married is less complicated than not being married? That logically doesn’t make sense. Doing nothing (not getting married) will always be less complicated than doing something (getting married).

Why do you need a symbolic commitment instead of just commitment? 17-30 is a period full of change for many people. You might decide to study or pursue a vocation in different places, you might find out one wants the city and another a small town, you might find out your political ideologies are in the midst of a major change, and so on.

It doesn’t really seem as if you’re actually open to another opinion but you’re looking for affirmation that you’re making the right choice. Maybe ask yourself why you need that affirmation. Do you want the same things? Which dreams do you have? Which plans? Where do you stand politically and ideologically? What does marriage mean to either of you? Did you have the idea of marriage by yourselves? Was it parents, or society, or media, or really just you who had the idea?

Marriage isn’t a fairytale. More than half of them fail. If your reaction to my comment is “fuck you, I’ll show them”, then you’re definitely getting married for the wrong reason. Just be clear about your reasons. If they are genuine and you both are on board. Then go for it.

  • SG-1 was great and dwindling towards the end. They ended there to at least stop when they were goo. You could see the effects of modern hollywood creeping in those last 2 seasons. Atlantis was already embracing modern hollywood, and Universe was the death knell to the franchise.

They should’ve left it dead. Now they’re going to try and raise a zombie, put make-up and lipstick on it, then kill it so that newer generations can remember Stargate as “oh, that shitty series?”.

    *Aluminium hat on*

They are reintroducing it to try and capitalise on the “it was aliens” meme. They are hoping to get a lot of viewership from the fringe and conspiracy theorists that will truly believe the pyramids were landing platforms for alien motherships.
