  • This is not a toddler, this is a guy bigger than you and with lots of guns and friends. Talking is our only option, especially because it means we can also go against the narrative that Denmark cannot defend Greenland.

Which is true in isolation, but that’s why we’re in NATO and the joint arctic command and have the 1951 deal with the US that you guys can scale up military presence in Greenland at will. Yet it hadn’t happened in 20 years, only reductions.

Personally I think we should have gone more into how Biden refused to increase the defense of the arctic region within the agreement, give the trumpists a way to call him names and solve the issue within the agreements we have.

Still, Lars Løkke has been doing the rounds on Fox News and elsewhere to give our perspective, which could influence public opinion and help change the false narratives being spread in the US. From our perspective we had everything to gain from a meeting and very little to lose.

  • It makes little sense to think of language outside of communities, so if a speech community uses a word in a certain way then it’s correct in that context.

Of course, most states find it useful to establish an official variant. It is usually based on whatever the ruling class speaks, and is claimed to be ‘correct’, but there are no objective linguistic criteria which make it possible to say that Parisian French is more correct than e.g. Haitian French.

  • Right, thanks for clarifying 🙂 I agree, don’t use extra virgin for frying. Still, I don’t think it gives off bitter flavours whatever you do unless you treat it really bad.

In Denmark, we traditionally cook using butter, but I like to use whatever fits the dish I am doing.

  • Watching from Scandinavia it’s pretty bizarre to see all these weirdos appropriate our culture. Like, the vikings were by all accounts not particularly racist or race minded.

They were traders and occasionally pirates who loved poetry and storytelling and fighting amongst themselves. They’d go somewhere and settle and just freely intermingle with the local culture to form hybrid cultures like Norman, Russian, etc.
