As always, Lenin did it first with the Bolsheviks (although they did toss out some socialist factions too).
To be fair to the Bolsheviks, there were a lot of groups at that time calling themselves socialist that absolutely were not socialists.

A thorough purge of the party is needed to weed out the people that are in just because of the perks that come with being in the party, i.e. the opportunists; followed by a reconstruction from the foundations by putting communist ideology at the base and making it the foremost quality to be found in a member of the party.
Not the first time Nepali Communist parties have merged. Hopefully this time lasts and the Nepali left can seize the opening of the government overthrow to reconstitute true popular socialist power.
This also leaves out CPN (Unified Marxist Leninist), which was the ruling party and the largest Communist party when the government was toppled.
I wonder what this means for the communist movement over there (and the splinter faction too…?)
