All I want is to take my F5 key and assign it to the media key for volume down. BIOS will not do this. Gnome lets me do it.
When I try to hit F5 the key does nothing in the input field.

You have to type the key sym name into the input field. It is not a raw shortcut editor yet.
Thank you for the reply. What is the key sym for a function key? I have tried F5 for example but that wasn’t right.

Thanks for the reply, but I’m not getting it. Are you saying that the problem is an “issue?” Is there still a bug or am I missing something?
