Last of the repaint 'Mechs I have so far, it’s the Lyran Guards from the Lyran Commonwealth. A pretty popular color scheme and I can see why. The cyan and white really pop.
The Lyran Commonwealth is a German-coded faction with a heavy emphasis on mercantilism, to the point where their military suffers from “social officers” - officers who merely buy their ranks and positions, rather than based on their quality. At one point, the Lyran Commonwealth joins up with the Federated Suns to form the Federated Commonwealth, becoming the dominant power for awhile. War and internal divisions inevitably lead to them breaking apart, though.
I’m really happy with how these turned out, though. Very crisp. Some of my best work with any minis.
Very nice! May I ask which paints are you using?
Army Painter brand Crystal Blue and Matt White. Gunmetal for the metallic bits. Wolf Grey with a dry brush of Matt White for the canopies. I used varying colors for the barrel interiors based on the stock loadout for each variant. Then some Nuln Oil (by Citadel) for the ink wash, watered down more for the white portion than the cyan.
It isn’t true Lyran lance if it’s below 400 tons. Not even a single Atlas 😟
Well, this isn’t the Scout Lance 😏
True, but there is no scout in this lance.
To be completely honest, I just divided up some 'Mechs from my collection to each of the Great Houses based on what I had vs. the lists for each House’s 'Mechs on Sarna. I don’t know enough about the intricate listbuilding rules to design good lists 😭
I still have some 'Mechs left to divvy up. After I finish the Kurita and Davion lances, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to approach it. Either do lances for minor powers (Rasalhague, St. Ives, Taurians, Canopus, etc.), lances for different Great House units (Warrior House Imarra, maybe), or just bulk up these 5 units so they can field a good blend of 'Mechs. If you have suggestions for 'Mechs you think my posted lances could benefit from, I’d appreciate your help 😁
I also have a bunch of retro metal minis I was going to paint in more generic color schemes to be used as nondescript or mercenary units. Filler.
I also have a bunch of retro metal minis
How old are those even? I remember getting the starter edition in polish in 1993 but those were already plastic ones (though pretty bad)
The metal ones are new. The molds are retro. Iron Winds Miniatures, I think, is the company.
