Fuck AI@lemmy.world•"Why would I spend time bonding with my kid when I can just get an AI to do it for me?"
9·1 month agoone of my kids loves when I tell them a made up story. I always find my stories lame and lacking didactic value when I compare them to professional audiobook stories. But when having the choice, my kid prefers my made up stories. I can’t say no to that.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What are some awesome science YouTube channels for preteens?
4·1 month agoI recommend Learning Curve. It’s mostly about astronomy or the universe, but sometimes also about other things: https://www.youtube.com/@LearningCurveScience
Their description:
What is Learning Curve all about? The Universe is an amazing place, and the goal of this channel is to uncover some of its secrets. I have been a science teacher for over 20 years, and I’m constantly amazed by the world and the universe around me. Having an inquisitive mind has set me on a mission to explore as many of the fantastic things I find as possible, and explain them to you. So if you have an inquisitive mind too, then make sure to subscribe and check back to find out what I’ve learned each week. As I always say, curiousness makes us human.
with a crypto wallet you’re not relying on a bank that can control when you get access to your assets. but there sure are a lot of downsides to crypto as well.
but if you zoom enough you’ll realize its actually squares. always has been.

Agreed. I feel like some people here just get super triggered when they see AI stuff. I’m not a fan either, but getting infuriated because of every slop they see anywhere will become frustrating soon. The sad reality is that AI is easy and convenient and most people are lazy.
EDIT: I just noticed that this was posted in the fuck_ai community. Please continue lol

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Whats do you consider the best choice for private mobile browsing?
31·4 months agoI get your point. But if you check the source you’ll notice that they don’t add any code themselves, they simply take Chromium and apply patches from Vanadium (Helium is commented for now) and build an apk. Yes, they call it experimental. Use at your own risk. I have had a very good experience so far - but you may disagree. However, there may be other people like me out there who think it’s a good value proposition.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Whats do you consider the best choice for private mobile browsing?
11·4 months agoI’m using this unofficial Helium build. It’s basically Vanadium + Helium patches with Extension support. Ublock Origin works like a charm.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Do you have a favorite game, like #1 favorite that no game can beat? If yes, which one?
2·5 months agoIt’s gotta be:
Command and Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath
Other honorary mentions:
- Outer Wilds (my best gaming experience so far, but low replayability)
- Skyrim
- Shapez 2
- Prey
- Naev
- The Talos Principle

8·6 months agoIt’s easy to say this now. But what if, in a few years, 90% of websites and service providers use this?

I just overwrote a Windows XP installation with Void Linux last weekend on an old netbook for a family member. But I felt very nostalgic when I booted a real XP system to see what was on it.
