It’s been fairly neoliberal for awhile now, I can’t remember which video it was but one of them really put a bad taste in my mouth. Whatever it was, imo it felt very apologist of capitalism. I unsubbed after that.
Yeah that’s because vendor lockin for hardware had already started. It’s kind of a miracle we got everyone to agree to USB. Look at cars, same thing. Everyone agreed to the same gas pump, but it’s been decades and we can’t agree on a standard for electric car chargers. That’s what happens when industries mature under capitalism
It’s why SMS still exists too. It’s from an era where everyone just used open standards instead of trying to create their own thing for money. Big tech conglomerates like we have now didn’t exist. The state of the tech industry and it’s proprietary standards is absolutely fucked.
Yes it was, we need to stop doing this where AI ruins something and we go “well it was never good” yes it was, that’s why it got popular. AI is running the Internet
When I read the very first bit I was like “oh is that a new kids tv streaming platform from the same creators as kidpix?” Then I was immediately hit with the reality of the grim world we live in

4·1 年前I definitely agree, it’s advertised as private, when really it’s more “open” so that it’s not profitable I think
I definitely think it’s important to make people aware of the difference in the fedeiverse. Especially since that is not how it worked in non-federated social media

lineageOS, but you have to have a supported device, and I’m not seeing that device on there. Plus fire tv’s are pretty locked down. I would suggest walmarts onn 4k box or an nvidia shield
personally I prefer android streaming boxes, because you can install custom versions of android tv on them, so if the official release from google is bad, you can just go to the community version

You’ve got to be kidding me man, I wanted to buy a phone that I could put a custom ROM on for years to come, I originally got an ASUS Zenfone for the same reason, and JUST as I get them both, they start locking things down. At least I was able to get lineage on my pixel for now, but who knows about updates!
