  • My girlfriend was looking to get a new IUD after her last one was expiring. For some reason the normal approach is completely without anaesthesia. There are so many horror stories of women being in awful pain during and up to weeks after the procedure. She looked around for a gynecologist with a focus on contraception (most focus on conception which is kind of annoying if you’re not at that stage in life yet) and we were able to find one. He said there’s no reason to not be using local anaesthesia. The procedure was very simple. Unbelievable how many women are going through pain that would be entirely preventable.

  • Aside from the technical problems you mentioned, it also solves the convenience problem of how to distribute libraries. C/C++ is really bad here because they dont have an integrated management tool. If you want to distribute over Linux package managers, then you will have to package it for every distro, paying attention to best practices and figuring out your dependencies for each one, you’ll also have to put it on the VS package repo for developers using Windows and possibly also support a Windows installer (and uninstaller) for those that dont use VS.

The alternative is to upload to a single repo and be done.

  • I was also raised atheists but I found myself being entertained by the bashing of ridiculous claims of fundamentalists. Things like thunderf00ts “Why people laugh at creationists” or anything by Darkmatter2525 were just poking harmless fun. As time progressed, some of these YouTubers started making more podcasty stuff where they would rant and rave about the evil effects of religion on daily life and I was still on board.

When they all switched to bashing feminism I left pretty quickly because I had a good friend who was an outspoken feminist and I realized that the videos portrayed feminism all wrong. Who knows where I would be if it wasnt for her.
