not world news, there’s specific communities for that. And speaking of that particular cup, coming from a soccer obsessed country, there’s been zero excitement in our local news either.

World News@lemmy.world•Germans bitterly divided over proposal to restrict cars in BerlinEnglish
4·13 days agoyeah, but that was not what the proposal would have restricted - the proposal only was for the inner berlin city to be restricted on cars movement. Those outer areas would not have been affected. the only inconvenience would have been for them to park their cars at the nearest/best connection to the inner city and continue by public transport (which is faster than going by car). the parking lots and infrastructure for that already exists, but is not used nowadays.
if it does not fit my purpose (aka software is unfinished), i will not use it and will not wait for bugfixes. so either (2) or (3)

World News@lemmy.world•What Orban’s Defeat Means for the Rest of the WorldEnglish
1·2 months agotrue, but having the power to change things and doing them are different things. Even in one big Party oft likeminded people, some may be having differing interests when it comes to the Details in topics, thats why i was pointing out, that even internal discussions take time and not having a plan how to change what is detrimental to the speed required to do those changes within their period of power.

World News@lemmy.world•What Orban’s Defeat Means for the Rest of the WorldEnglish
8·2 months agohopefully they already have a plan on how to reverse the rules and constitutional changes implemented by orban. In order to change Hungarian constitution back to democratic rules. If they only start to discuss this now, it will be difficult to implement and impede the autocratic powers from gaining power ever again.

World News@lemmy.world•Trump says he’s considering ‘joint venture’ with Iran for Strait of Hormuz tollsEnglish
8·2 months agothese was a guy in the comments 2-4 Weeks ago, who was already calling for that being the whole reason of the war. Trump and his lackeys are really executing the biggest grift in history. And the World only watches.
With Iran beging a close russian ally and the Trump administration the same (looking at Vance in Hungary), i dont think its too far fetched, that the whole pupeteer all along has been the Kremlin, achieving multiple goals at the same time. most importantly achieving financing for the continuation oft their Ukraine war.

1·2 months agothanks 🙂 its great to have a civil discussion on the internet. What i mean about the first part is, that as your first point stated and my first answer to the discussion at hand stated, agreement proposals have to be done by countries with some kind of factor (yours was population size, mine were economical) in order to claim legitimacy. As you rightfully called into question the need for that in your follow-up comment, i wanted to join you and say that the factors should not play a role at all, neither populace or economical, wheb proposing improvements at the global stage.
BRICS, ADB etc. same with NATO, EU etc. were created when multiple interests among a number of states aligned with each other. I would not consider them necessary blocs for multinational agreements on topics differing from their original interest. Since we are talking on one specific topic here, they are of no use.
Any kind of agreement is legitimate as long as all sides of the agreement consider them as such. i dont think, we are talking about coercion here, as the agreement proposed is just that - a proposal. Wpuld you call it coercion if you are approached by a group of people on a topic you have a neutral opinion about? I don’t think so. Whether one joins an agreement or not is up to them.
what in the article states, that they are not being inclusive? from my PoV of the article its a joint effort of EU and the CPTPP which totals 40nations

Europe@feddit.org•Are Europeans more well versed with world geography than Americans?English
11·2 months agoi understand your sentiment, what i was saying is i reject your claim of equivaleny between us states to european countries or countries in general. i was rly talking about, that any country, except the US, that does not have a majorly agricultral society can sort any given country into their continent correctly. Except for USA’ians who do not have this kind of geographical knowledge.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Carney’s mega anti-Trump alliance starts quest to save world tradeEnglish
1·2 months agobut then we are talking about a completely different thing as your first post suggested. Why is it, that one even has to have some factor in an element on the global stage to shape future agreements? Because i believe that for all countries could give any idea to how agreements should be created (yes, even the smallest unimportant countries). and apparently your top 1 and top 3 did not make any move on that, so why should other countries wait for those to take action? also note you are talking about laws, i am talking about agreements. there is no such thing as law on the international stage, only trust and credibility amid agreed upon agreed rules on that stage. Since the preivous shaper of those agreements - the US - is no longer to be trusted or have any credibility left, other countries will step up out of their volition. why restrict that?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Should I even take my current job seriously anymore, now that I’ve been told my contract won’t be renewed?English
9·3 months agosorry, that’s not the situation germany is in at all. Its just that we have a stable social welfare net that will catch you up. no one wants to live in the social welfare net forever, as the saying goes, its too much to die, too less to live. but the story above, as far as it sounded to me, was, that he would be transfered to a new job within the same company, and asks now whether he should put in any effort at all, as his previous supervisor apparently did not appreciate his work at all. He is now considering, what to do until May, whether he should lie low, call in sick etc. until his transfer is completed.

51·3 months agowhen talking about world trade the size of ones population does not matter as much as i.e. the GDP because those are the relevant numbers when judging a economic topic.

62·3 months agoits not equivalent at all. like most if not all people from countries with education over an agricultural society can tell, whether a country is situated at a certain continent or not. And this for all continents, whether its their own continent or not.

Europe@feddit.org•Commission presents proposal for EU Inc. - unlocking the full potential of the Single Market for Europe\'s entrepreneursEnglish
5·3 months agoi guess its a great start for a more integrated Europe in order to become something like the united states of europe. Now its important to make sure, that digital only and simplified does in no way mean a reduction of workers rights or the publics right towards information about those companies. Here is hoping its a basis that will uphold those rights at a more upper level across the median of european nations and not be situated on the lower end.

yeah, i would just be glad that humanity survived as long to develop that kind of technology
