Image, audio and video generation are not Large Language Models and while LLMs are the money spinners, media generation is what is most visible to most people and referenced the most by ordinary people as “AI”.

The UX is a mess. Small example: if you try to manually identify a movie against a db, it will give you a list of matches with cover thumbnails and the first 10 characters of the name. So you click one to see if it’s the right match, and it shows you exactly the same information, but in a modal prompting if you want to apply this (you can only nuke metadata, not merge or select values you want). If you’re still unsure and want to see the others, you can click back (in the modal), which makes Jellyfin panic and bring you all the way back to the movie page, your API/DB search wasted and needing to be run again, i.e. starting over from scratch.

You can grieve in peace without purchasing a literal horse parade, ridiculous coffin and custom t-shirts. They didn’t want peace. Your understanding is correct and it’s literally why Dolphin emulator is still going strong 20 years later, it doesn’t do this.

“Developers” haven’t do this because this is people clicking the fork button or copy-paste-upload. The actual developers have long since moved on.
