That like an everything bagel style bread crust? looks good, as much as I like bacon, it would be very good without, too.

Technology@beehaw.org•"CEO said a thing!" journalism involves parroting the claims of a business leader or executive with absolutely no context, correction, or challenge whatsoever, no matter how elaborate the delusionEnglish
10·7 months agoThere has always been true journalists, and it seems there are periods where groups become more prominent in waves, like you describe with that period, but, at least from the many news papers I have read from that time, from the US, Canada, and the UK it was all corporate voice, and extremely ham fisted government propaganda, and that portion of journalism seems to be outlier. Newspapers needs sales, Ads need viewer, etc., and sensationalist bullshit, outrage, and gossip, have always been the solution to that.
I can’t tell you how many ads I have seen for over consumption, especially of questionable shit, with the US government calling for being a real American, or whatever, that buys this American product. Write-ups about military actions, especially ones with natives, that are basically just fabricated stories about brave christian soldiers protecting innocent homesteaders from the savages. When I first started looking these up I was kinda surprised at how bad it was actually, and I was expecting pretty much the same. The biggest thing I noticed was that there was a LOT more long form article 200 years ago. However they, like today, were largely industry/political puff pieces, socialite blather, etc.
Also, the amount of casual libel in century plus old news papers is insane. Absolutely would not fly today.

Technology@beehaw.org•Explain it like I'm 5: Why is everyone on speakerphone in public?English
5·8 months agomy personal view of this is that, as phones became something people were on all the time, regardless of what they happened to be doing, more people started using speaker because they are often doing multiple things at once, or need to pay better attention to what is happening around them. I believe that hands free units in cars have also played a part normalizing just using speaker phone, especially when needing to pay attention to what is happening around them in public.
look up food cost videos at the Texas state fair on YT. It is absolutely out of control. Completely unhinged.

1·10 months agoThe absolute base model, at bulk rate, is 193,000 USD. Very few are actually that cheap because that is basically just the weapon platform, no weapons, no surveillance equipment, etc.
Here the tray of thawed, and the tube of frozen, ground turkey are the same price. Ground pork, that is ground by the meat department, is the same price. Various brands of ground pork are a little more expensive though. I also believe that almost all meat has been frozen before making it to the store, local butchers, and specialty places may differ.
I wish ground turkey was cheaper than pork here. Pork is the cheapest meat I can get where I am. Here are the current cheapest prices I can get shit per pound.
Ground Turkey - $3.78
Ground Chuck - $5.22
Chicken Breast - $3.77
Chicken Thighs - $3.83
Chicken Drumsticks - $.98 (last package I bought had an actual meat yeild that made them $2.70 w/o bones. etc.
Whole pork loin - $2.48
That was the total amount canned. They didn’t can 3 gallons of chili in one container.
