Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Sunday she will stop using “toxic” rhetoric, marking what would be a dramatic shift in a political brand hallmarked by derogatory comments.
Literally what I’ve been saying since the email release. The party was doomed either way, nobody is left in the GOP who can wrangle Trump’s base or court a new segment of right wing conservatism. The only one who stood a chance was possibly Charlie Kirk, but I don’t think he’s going to be sticking his neck out.
Even without the Epstein circus, Trump’s days are numbered and he’s the only “authentic” politician that his base connects with, and every time they parade Vance around like he’s #2, the base tunes out and yawns and changes the channel. He talks like a politician, and both parties STILL do not get that millions of Americans hate politicians that talk like politicians.
MTG has a solid chance if nobody else emerges in the next couple years, which should terrify all of us.
My worry now is that the American working class hasn’t learned how powerful it could be, and liberal capitalism will reassert itself with slightly more social safety net. At the very least, we should end up with European style social democracy, and even that seems like a low bar.
