Sleep deprivation is like being drunk. You make terrible decisions, and operate on a small percentage of your potential.
Like being drunk, your brain compensates and you are not aware of being a dumb-dumb with the decision making capability of a 5 year old.
This behaviour is not surprising, then.
It’s surprising to me how much rougher my gear changes are when I haven’t had enough sleep. I feel just as awake, I’m just bad at it.
At least you perceive that happening. With a lot of other stuff the feedback isn’t as tangible!
Pointing to the bags beneath her eyes, Takaichi told MPs that she survives on minimal sleep – a habit she shares with her political hero Margaret Thatcher – after being asked how she would tackle Japan’s notoriously long working hours.
Margaret Thatcher being your hero tells me everything I need to know about you. I feel bad for the Japanese populace.
She platformed on this, they willingly voted for it.
Good to know people are just as stupid the world over.
The world would be so much better with women in charge.
The women in charge we end up with :
(nb : I’m not saying women are incapable of power, just that assuming women would be great leaders is a stupid idea. There are examples of great/not horrid female leaders like Jacinda Ardern, but thatcher, this woman, Kirchner, theresa may, the lettuce woman are all terrible)
Look, I’m not the biggest fan of Angela Merkel, but the dude before her and the two after were all worse. And she’s a whole world better than Thatcher.
Merkel was around for a long time, must have done something right.
I remember Germany being one of the most prosperous EU nations during her tenure. I don’t know enough to know if she played any role in that, or just coasted on it.
I purposely avoided putting her name in as she is a complex ruler who is largely average and debatable the same way most male leaders are and her decisions can be interpreted in multiple ways by multiple people…
unlike May, thatcher or kitchner.
I didn’t want to come off pissed. I’m sorry if it was perceived like that. Merkel could have done a lot of things a lot better, or could have started others she didn’t even touch. But at least I didn’t have the feeling she constantly and deliberately chose the worst option for the people.
I guess people could interpret the decisions of Thatcher in multiple ways as well. Those people would be wrong though.

You did not come across that way, just that you assumed I put in Merkel when I deliberately avoided putting her in, so in terms of tone and whatnot, there’s no problems.

With thatcher it’s a bit more straightforward for some of the things she did and it’s wide ranging impacts. I don’t think Merkel decimated entire regions of germany the way thatcher did to britain, even though she made some people very rich.
Merkel may have made choices that had undesired impacts, but thatcher was really something else.
I think there is a cause here most people don’t see. Voters often assume women will be more left or more compassionate, regardless of their actual opinions or policies. Because of this, to appeal to the median voter, female politicians often need to go further right, either intentionally or unintentionally, to compensate. Alternatively, this stereotype might allow them to get away with more of this behavior if that is their real personality/ideology.
My thoughts exactly.
IIRC Thatcher claimed to sleep for four hours, and she only did that because she thought it was necessary to be able to do the job properly. The job of, you know, running a country.
Sleeping for two, and then expecting a regular salaryman / career woman to get on the same level and then do that for a lifetime is an entirely new level of ludicrous.
Nice “hero”
“I suffer/ed so you must suffer…”
my ass. i’m gonna have to bet she lives a much comfier life with a much comfier sleep schedule than she brags about.
Maybe, but japan has a much different culture towards work and commitment than western countries. Burn out culture is very normal for the populace.
Personally i somewhat believe the 2 hrs a night thing but i suspect there are naps throughout the day if thats the case. Id guess she gets 4-6 hrs broken up throughout the day.
That or untreated bipolar
Breaking: A politician lied about working hard.
This!
