Hypergranulation tissue is weak easily-wounded flesh that can be produced as an overcorrection response to injury. It extends beyond the wound that was inflicted, and is so prone to further damage that it creates more hypergranulation tissue.

I refer to much of my being as mental hypergranulation tissue. At this point I do not really know from what it originates. It was grown from countless mental wounds over the span of my life and became so pervasive that I believed it was all I was or ever could be.

My adulthood has been the process of identifying these areas, cutting them back, and learning if they were important or not. It would be a lot easier to not have to do that, and I would prefer to have not had to do that, but it has caused me to know myself in greater detail than I would otherwise.
