    The body resists binary gendering

You can’t compare gender and sex.

Sex is biological . Chromosomes, reproductive systems, traits of a species. All that gemology blueprint stuff of the mammals and other species.

Gender is social . It’s cultural roles and concepts unique to human societies. It’s based loosely on sex, but it isn’t biological; it’s anthropological. Most importantly, it’s entirely made up.

Gender can vanish if people stop recognising it and many people do. Sex only disappears in a mass extinction event.

Your body doesn’t “resist” gender — it can’t. It’s just a mammal husk. It just does what it’s blueprint has on it. All it can resist is invasive entities on a biochemical level and a few environmental factors such a liquids and heat.

How much you let gender concepts influence your life for better or for worse is entirely up to you. Don’t drag biological sciences into it.

Mostly agree especially about the “you can’t compare gender and sex” part which people get wrong regularly and also in quite basic ways. Like “gender medicine” is a valid term in German somehow.

Gender can vanish if people stop recognising it[…]

I highly doubt that though. Since the concept of gender or at least some parts associated with it is based on facts resulting from biological differences there will be different expectations on what a person is like based on their sex. Because:

      • Men are stronger than women - on average - because of testosterone
      • Women live longer than men - on average
      • Woman have a better immune system than men - on average - because the gene(s) impacting that are on the X-chromosome
      • Women are capable of bearing offspring - with all the implications
      • Testosterone has an impact on someones behaviour

The world is a complex place an we need to simplify things. We do that with other groups too - what doesn’t mean, there are people who (try to) dont’t do that.

I think we should be open to each other and adjust our expectations about each other if necessary and maybe be a bit cool about stuff.

Before you get out the clubs: I’m no native speaker.

Men are stronger than women - on average - because of testosterone Serious question but is this due to testosterone or simply other factors? The body composition usually is quite different in men and women.

Women live longer than men - on average But does this have anything to do with hormones at all? I’d argue, that that might be more due to the lives people are living. Men are and have historically often been in more hazardous and unhealthy jobs or hobbies. And let’s be real… sometimes they’re just plain stupid and might die because of that.

Bit late, but: Testosterone is literally used as a performance-enhancing drug, and it’s part of why the body composition of men and women is different.
