Ya know how people were making fun of China for having empty apartment buildings and all that? Will they cry when people make fun of the US for having a half complete high speed rail alignment? Lol
Of course not. An abandoned infrastructure project? They wouldn’t have it any other way save for it never occuring.
They’d be more than happy to do nothing with the project other than turn it into a monument to Californian voter’s arrogance in thinking infrastructure is anything except for an impossibility.
I mean it was never going to be built, only way we get HSR in this country is if we get help from China and join belt and road
California should just go ahead and do that then
I have mixed feelings about importing Chinese people to build our trains.
Fair
Nowhere
Los Angeles and San Francisco? Never heard of em
this has been a right wing talking point the entire time because the first operational stretch will be between central valley cities while they build out the links to SF and LA.
The initial stretch, connecting Bakersfield to Merced, would connect well with existing rail service to the bay area anyway. Sure, the last portion of your leg is on a not high speed train, but the trains in the bay area are decent, Caltrain has had big improvements in recent years
